Christopher Butler, 38, of Troy, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The crash was the second deadly crash of the day in Miami County. Black ice is believed to have been a factor in the wreck.
Deputies responded to a crash around 7:40 a.m. in the 6300 block of Kessler Frederick Road after the Butler’s vehicle hit a pole, bringing live wires down with it. A West Milton police officer, who was first to the scene, stopped and gave Butler CPR until medics could arrive.
Initial reports indicated Butler may have suffered from electric shock, according to emergency dispatch records.
The utility poles that were hit in the crash were broken, so the road is closed until DP&L can replace the pole.
