Sheriff Mike Simpson told News Center 7 on Wednesday that the teacher who is their uncharged suspect still works at Eaton Middle School.
Investigators say the person making the accusations is now an adult, but he’s one of her former students.
“The victim came to us and made an allegation of some type of inappropriate sexual activity while they were a student at the middle school,” Simpson said.
As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, the teacher who is the focus of the investigation is an uncharged suspect, so News Center 7 is not naming her at this time.
As of right now, no one is facing criminal charges in connection with the case.
The Preble County Sheriff’s Office is leading the probe, and they’re being assisted by the Eaton Police Department.
Simpson added that detectives will be working to find out details, such as what happened, where it happened, and whether it happened more than once.
“We’re really just getting into what the allegations are, and getting into our investigation so we can try to determine what occurred,” Simpson said.
Once detectives finish their investigation, they’ll hand it off to prosecutors to make a decision on possible criminal charges.
News Center 7 reached out to Eaton Community Schools for comment on the investigation. We have not received a response at the time of this report.
