SISCA Adoption Center is a non-profit animal shelter located in Kettering that rescues more than fifteen hundred dogs and cats each year. Their mission is to promote the welfare and adoption of companion animals, and nurture loving, lifelong relationships between animals and people.

In efforts to further execute their mission, the shelter has implemented The Satellite Cat Program. This program will allow them to partner with nearby organizations to create more opportunities for adoptions. Estimating that the new initiative will allow them to rescue three hundred additional cats a year in the county, it will aid in the stray cat and euthanasia problem in the county.

“It give another venue option for cat adoptions. We are working with Animal M.D., The Scratching Post, and Poochie Bath. They have cats at their facility that they are adopting on behalf of SICSA”, said Jesse Sullivan, Director of Adoption and Replacement Services.

The program was made possible after SICSA was awarded $17,000 from Best Friend Animal Society. The funds will be used in hiring new staff and purchasing the supplies needed to care for the animals.

“I think it is a good thing that people are keeping stray animals in their minds, especially in cold weather”, animal lover Ceira Henderson said.

The Satellite Cat Program will go into full swing next year, even allowing adoptions to be done without possible new owners having to travel to the main SISCA location.
