A woman called 911 at 1:30 a.m. to report that two masked men had broken into the family’s home in the gated Stockton Ridge community, the news station reported. The woman said that the masked men bound her son and ransacked the home before leaving with the teen, who was being held at gunpoint, according to WPXI.

The men took off in the woman’s car, which was later found abandoned near the family’s home, WPXI reported.

Authorities found the teenager hours later, after he called 911 around 5 a.m. from a convenience store in Rochester. He was uninjured and later reunited with his mother, according to WPXI.

“We believe this was a targeted event, direct to this family. We don’t think it was random,” Lt. Chuck Mascellino told the news station. He highlighted that “out of 100 apartments at the complex, they chose that one.”

Police continue to investigate.
