Between APA and MCSO, 14 detectives and officers scattered throughout the county checking to ensure that the sex offenders on parole were not participating in any Trick-or-Treat festivities, the spokesperson said in a media release.

“These checks provide an added layer of public safety for families in our community by ensuring those who are required to be compliant are doing so,” Sheriff Rob Streck said in the media release. “We are grateful for our partnership with APA and look forward to doing more of these proactive operations in the future.”

APA identified 59 addresses throughout the county to check for violations, the spokesperson said.

These specific offenders were prohibited from passing out candy on Halloween due to the terms of their parole, the spokesperson said.

Out of 59 registered sex offenders, only one was arrested due to an unrelated parole violation, the spokesperson said. He was taken into custody without incident.
