WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is set to kick off a week-long celebration of defenders during National Police Week.
This week the base will celebrate with events and ceremonies, with the opening ceremony starting at 8:00 a.m. today.
According to a press release, there will be competitions to test participants’ mental and physical strengths, and community events showcasing the latest technology and equipment used by base security forces and local law enforcement.

At 9:30 a.m. today, teams will be able to compete in the Defender Challenge, a series of physical and mental challenges. Those attempting the challenge will have to do a series of pushups, burpees, sprints, assembling an M-4 rifle, HMMV push, room clearing, and handcuffing.
Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. Local law enforcement agencies and Security Forces will show off their latest technology and special equipment.
Friday at 8:00 a.m., the Ruck to Remember 5K run is scheduled to honor fallen heroes.
At 3:00 p.m. Friday, the closing ceremony and final guard mount are set to happen at the Air Force Institute of Technology.
