HUBER HEIGHTS — Huber Heights police are working with Huber Heights City Schools to determine who was involved in a fight at Wayne High School that prompted officers from across the city to respond Friday afternoon.
New body camera footage obtained by News Center 7 through a public records request shows a Huber Heights police officer intervening in a fight involving multiple people in the school’s parking lot around 3 p.m.
The Superintendent of Wayne High School, Mario Basora, issued the following statement in response to the altercation that occurred among several Wayne High School students Friday:
“Huber Heights City Schools does not tolerate violence of any kind. All students involved were strictly disciplined in accordance with our Student Discipline Handbook and Board of Education policy,” he said.
“This behavior is not representative of our district and should not be used to gauge the character of our students and staff. Huber Heights City Schools, and Wayne High School specifically, are home to some of the brightest, kindest and responsible young people in the area. There are many wonderful, innovative and remarkable things happening at our schools. Our school climate is safe, welcoming and positive and our students and staff are valuable beyond measure.”

Huber Heights Police said the fight started a few minutes after school had let out from the day, however details about what led to the fight were not immediately available.
A city wide call for help was initiated by police, which resulted in a large police response to the school.
Officers are planning to present any possible charges to the prosecutor’s office once everyone involved in the fight has been identified.
