Attempted murder among charges for man wanted in shooting outside Miami Twp. hotel

A man wanted in the shooting last month outside a DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel in Miami Twp. was formally charged Tuesday by a Montgomery County grand jury.

Jesse Lamar Shepherd, 28, remains on the run as there is a warrant for his arrest.

Shepherd’s charges include two counts of aggravated attempted murder, one count of attempted murder, three counts of aggravated robbery, three counts of aggravated robbery; two counts of felonious assault; and one count of failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer.

All but one of the charges have a three-year firearm specification.

Police were called Dec. 18, 2019, to the hotel near the Dayton Mall for a shooting, which led to a car chase and then crash at Nicholas and Dryden roads.

At the crash, Dennis Lamar Taylor, one of the two men involved, was arrested but police said Shepherd fled.

He is believed to have cut his hair and added facial tattoos since his last available photos. He stands 5 feet, 6 inches and weighs 130 pounds. Anyone with information is urged to call Miami Valley Crime Stoppers at 937-255-STOP (7867).
