MIAMI TWP. — A man wanted in connection to the shooting outside a Miami Twp. hotel called police minutes after his pickup crashed during a pursuit following the shooting, according to dispatch records.

“I’m trying to report a stolen truck,” Jesse Shepherd told dispatchers when he called about six minutes after the pursuit ended. “My neighbor just said somebody stole my truck.”

Shepherd is believed to be the man that exited first from the driver’s side of his pickup truck after it crashed at the intersection of Nicholas and Dryden roads with Moraine police in pursuit.  He still was on the run from police Friday morning.

The other man, Dennis Lamar Taylor, was taken into custody immediately and was still in the Montgomery County Jail Friday morning on a preliminary booking for felonious assault.
