The Miami Valley is getting ready to grow its eagle to its population.
Tuesday marks 35 days since pair Willa and Orv started incubating at least one egg in their nest.
“Might take it a couple of days to get out, but it’s determined to do that,” eagle expert Jim Weller said.
He joined a crew of regulars on Carillon Boulevard to photograph and observe the birds.
“The first time you see them fly, it’s like you can’t do anything. You’re just paralyzed,” Dan Bowers from Eaton said.
Roger Garber from Huber Heights estimates he has taken at least 100,000 pictures of the two over the years.
“No matter how many pictures you take, it never gets old,” Garber said.
The crew uses special lenses to be able to capture close-up shots of the birds. Using a drone in Carillon Historical Park is not allowed and using one outside of the park anywhere near the eagles is dangerous to the eagles.
