A child has died and five others were injured following a two-vehicle crash Saturday night in northeast Columbus, according to our partners at WBNS-10TV.

Police say a SUV traveling south on Cleveland Avenue at a high rate of speed lost control when the driver tried to avoid another vehicle, hit a pole, flipped upside down and landed on its top.

Witnesses told police at least one child was ejected from the vehicle, WBNS wrote.

Five children were taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital where a seven-year-old girl later died. The driver was taken to Grant Medical Center.

The identities of all occupants have not been released, according to WBNS.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be a factor in the crash that remains under investigation.
