MORAINE — The City of Moraine received the Ohio Auditor of State Award with Distinction for the 2021 fiscal year after being audited by an independent public accounting firm.
“The Auditor of State Award is presented to local governments and school districts upon the completion of a financial audit,” a spokesperson informed News Center 7.
Less than 4% of public entities in Ohio receive this award each year, according to the Ohio Auditor of State.
“We don’t take the award for granted and are very thankful for the recognition and hope this reinforces the public’s trust in how we handle their money,” Finance Director Don Buczek stated.
The city submitted thousands of transactions, including payroll and income tax, to the independent accounting firm.
Their clean audit report signifies that the city’s accounting followed laws established at the city, state, and federal level.
