COLUMBUS — A 16-year-old girl was killed and five people were injured in a shooting that happened at Bicentennial Park in downtown Columbus, according to our news partners at WBNS-TV.
Columbus police responded to the scene of the shooting in the 200 block of South Civic Center Drive and Rich Street at 11:51 p.m. Saturday.
Police say the shooting happened during a private event that had been promoted on social media, WBNS-TV reported.
When officers arrived, they located several people who had been shot.
WBNS-TV reports that police say 16-year-old Olivia Kurtz was taken to Grant Medical Center and was pronounced dead just after 1 a.m. Sunday.
Police also say a 16-year-old boy, a 15-year-old girl, two 19-year-old women and a 19-year-old man were also shot and expected to recover from their injuries.
According to police, two other people were treated for minor injuries that were not gunshot wounds as they tried to leave the area, WBNS-TV reported.
Police have not made any arrests and are still looking for the suspect or suspects involved.
