The first incident was reported as a pedestrian crash at North Main Street and Shoup Mill Road around 12:30 a.m. Friday. Deputies found a pedestrian, only identified as a juvenile, was hit by a van traveling east on Shoup Mill Road, deputies said in a press release.

The juvenile was taken to an area hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, according to deputies. A preliminary investigation found the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk and crossed the street in front of the van.

While the pedestrian strike was being investigated, a second incident involving two juveniles and deputies was reported in the parking lot of the Walgreens at the same intersection of North Main Street and Shoup Mill Road.

Deputies were looking into a report of a suspicious vehicle with possible runaway juveniles in the parking lot around 1:05 a.m.

While deputies were talking to two juveniles on scene, both jumped back into a car, put the vehicle in reverse, and hit a deputy’s cruiser, investigators said in a separate media release.

The driver of the car was taken into custody and was placed in the Juvenile Justice Center. The juvenile was found to be a missing runaway juvenile and was charged with receiving stolen property.

A second juvenile in the second incident ran from the scene after the car hit the deputy’s cruiser, deputies said.

The car that hit the cruiser was later found to be a stolen car that had yet to be reported as stolen, deputies said.

Both incidents remain under investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
