MERCER COUNTY — Sheriff Jeff Grey announced Thursday that his office is increasing its presence in the northwest part of Mercer County. The areas that his officers look to increase their presence are on SR 118, SR 707, and SR 49.
This comes as a response to the increase in traffic crashes and injuries in recent months. There were 15 since November 2019 that was due to driver inattention, speeding and stop sign violations. Deputies will be assigned to these areas and will have a zero-tolerance for stop sign violations.

“I want everyone to understand, if you get stopped for a stop sign violation, you will receive a citation, no warnings will be issued, the zero-tolerance on stop sign violations will be countywide,” Grey said.

He furthered advised that deputies will be working overtime to target stop sign violations and speed violations. The goal of this enforcement blitz is to reduce crashes and injuries.
