‘So proud of this man;’ Former Browns RB Peyton Hillis recovering after saving kids from drowning

PENSACOLA, FL — Former Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis is recovering after saving his children from drowning in the ocean earlier this month, his girlfriend, singer songwriter Ashley Cole, posted on social media.

Hillis was taken to the hospital January 5 after an accident while swimming in Pensacola, Florida..

“Peyton is off a ventilator and is on the road to recovery,” Cole said. “So proud of this man and so incredibly grateful and this incredible hospital. Please continue to pray for he’s still got a ways ahead of him.”

She thanked everyone for “prayers and love and support.”

Cole called Thursday, “a good day.”

Hillis played college ball at Arkansas and seven seasons in the NFL.

He played two season for the Browns, 2010-2012. He rushed for 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2010.
