When SICSA received the call asking them to help rehome 11 hound dogs whose owner had been incarcerated, they immediately began to offer support.

“We knew we had to get involved,” Director of Adoptions and Alternative Services at SICSA, Jessica Sullivan, said. “While this situation is unfortunate, these dogs are lucky to have people advocating for them, and we’re hoping all of them find new, loving homes.”
An all-volunteer organization in Dayton, Ruff Transport, assisted SICSA in the rehoming process, SICSA Pet Adoption and Wellness Center spokeswoman, Angie Tapogna, said.

Ruff Transport brought the dogs to SICSA where they each received a medical exam, vaccines, flea treatments, dewormers and a heartworm test, Tapogna said.
The dogs are currently living in kennels outside with a temporary caregiver, Tapogna said.
“There are eight of the 11 dogs who still need homes, and they range in age from 18 months to young adult- with one, sweet senior dog,” Sullivan said, “their weights range from 35-60 lbs.”

The dogs are not available for adoption at SICSA, Tapogna said. SICSA’s Help Center is working with a family member to find new homes for the dogs.
For more information about these dogs, call SICSA’s Help Center at (937) 294-6505, the release said.
