Weather forcing water parks to temporarily close

Kroger Aquatic Center

HUBER HEIGHTS — A summer after COVID-19 caused local water parks to shut down or limit capacity, they’re closing again — this time due to weather.

The Kroger Aquatic Center in Huber Heights unexpectedly had to close two times this week due to bad weather.

“I thought this year would be a great year … that we’d have a hot and sunny summer. But Mother Nature …she’s been playing havoc with that,” said Chris Lindeman, Executive Director of the YMCA at the Heights.

Lindeman said it’s especially difficult after a year where COVID-19 caused a lot of water parks to shut down or limit capacity.

The Center is hoping to get more in the water before the August 16th when they’ll be reducing hours to weekends only.
