Dream job alert: Get paid to vacation like it’s 1955

The Dallas-based travel booking site is seeking a Retro Beach Motelier whose idea of a “perfect somewhere” is a “blast-from-the-past beachside paradise unchanged by the modern world.”

According to KABC-TV, the lucky hire will visit retro beach motels from The Pearl Hotel in San Diego to Vagabond Hotel in Miami, Florida.

The complete itinerary comprises Hotels.com’s 10 best retro beach motels across America, a list based on guest ratings, overall design, value and location, the company stated in a news release.

Per CNN Business: “The motelier will be equipped with old school accessories, including SPF zinc, striped umbrellas, vintage sunnies, cooler and even a solar-powered AM/FM radio to enjoy some tunes. The job will comprise of offline activities, such as documenting the trip “for future generations” using a classic Polaroid camera.”

The anointed professional vacationer will also receive a $10,000 stipend to cover travel expenses, plus a $5,000 salary to splurge on classic beachside snacks, KABC reported.

“Travelers these days tend to search for all-inclusive hotels and resorts when planning their summer getaways, but our Retro Beach Motelier is out to prove that beach motels can be just as luxurious,” Melissa Dohmen of Hotels.com stated in the news release.

“These timeless motels are not only budget-friendly but will transport beachgoers, literally and figuratively, back in time to truly disconnect and relax,” she added.

Applications are being accepted online, and the deadline is Friday.
