Kettering police said a woman suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Wilmington Pike late Monday night.
Police and medics were dispatched to the intersection of Wilmington Pike and Harvest Avenue around 11:45 p.m. Monday on a crash with possible entrapment.
Officers said initially the driver, only identified as a woman, was transported to Kettering Medical Center with injuries that were first believed to be minor.
Police have updated that report and said the woman’s injuries are more serious than first thought. Officers said the woman is currently in surgery at the hospital, but her condition is unknown.
Investigators said an initial investigation found the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when she slammed into a pole, and initially attempted to drive away.
Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, but police said any potential charges are still under investigation.
