RTA launches Summer Passport program for students

The Greater Dayton RTA has announced a new youth summer passport pilot program that will provide unlimited travel for three months for $55.

Area students between the ages of 13 and 18 are eligible for the new program.

The Summer Passport ensures a summer of travel for students on any fixed route and at any time between June 1 and Aug. 31.

A press conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Wright Stop Plaza.

“This is an exciting summer for Dayton area kids,” RTA Chief Executive Officer Mark Donaghy said in a release. “We’re pleased to be able to help them go to where they need to go this summer.”

RTA is partnering with locals schools and organizations to promote the program to eligible students.

Summer Passport passes may be purchased at the Wright Stop Plaza ticket window between the hours of 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. They also are available at the Northwest Transit Center ticket window every day between 4:30 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Summer Passports will go on sale beginning May 23. Students must show a picture school ID, a driver’s license or an Ohio ID, along with their Summer Passport, to board an RTA bus.
