More than 30 workers at General Motors’ Syncreon distribution facility in Trotwood will receive layoff notices this week, leaving about 17 workers at the plant, local union officials said Tuesday.
In November 2014, GM notified workers about the closing of the 375,000-square-foot facility at 1 Modern Way in Trotwood. The plant, operated by third-party supply chain services provider Syncreon, distributes Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck parts to GM operations in Venezuela and China.
Originally, about 107 workers were scheduled to be impacted by the closing. That number included seven workers who were to be retained until March 2 at a parts storage location in Moraine.
Now a total of 50 workers will be impacted, because many have opted for transfers or retirement, said Steve Goertemiller, United Auto Workers Local 696 acting shop chairman.
