Wind Chill Advisory issued for some, rain showers return Tuesday

Wind Chill Advisory is in effect through 6 a.m. Tuesday for Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Darke, Greene, Logan, Mercer, Miami and Shelby counties.

DETAILED FORECAST

Overnight: Wind chills to in the counties northeast of Dayton will fall as low as 15 degrees below zero, Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Jesse Maag said.

In Dayton, the coldest air will be early in the night as temperatures bottom out in the single digits before midnight. Wind chills will be around 10 degrees below zero before midnight. Warmer air will start to gradually arrive before sunrise.

Tuesday: By sunrise, temperatures near Dayton will be above 10 degrees with temperatures steadily climbing during the day to a high in the upper 30s. The day starts with sunshine but clouds will thicken through the day. Rain arrives during the overnight hours and continues into Wednesday.

Wednesday: Scattered rain showers and temperatures around 40 degrees start the day. As a front moves through, cold air will transition showers briefly to a wintry mix or a few snow showers before moisture exits late in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures quickly drop into the 30s and into the teens overnight.

Snow is expected to be short-lived and will only lead to accumulation of ½ inch, at most.

Thursday: Another cold start in the teens. Expect mostly cloudy skies as highs reach in the upper 20s. Some light snow showers return in the evening.

Friday: A chilly morning in the single digits again. Highs reach in the teens with mostly cloudy skies again. A few more snow showers are also possible.

Saturday: Temperatures start in the single-digits again with highs reaching the lower 20s. Some snow showers are possible.
