UPDATE @ 2:30 a.m.:
Dayton Power & Light is reporting that power has been restored to all customers in Darke County.
UPDATE @ 10:02 p.m.: An estimated 412 customers have been brought back on line, Dayton Power & Light spokesman Tom Tatham said, and crews are working to transfer the remaining 1,521 customers onto another circuit.
DP&L crews are working to have that transfer done over the next several hours, he said.
There was an issue with a cable at one of the substations in Greenville, and moisture and frigid temps most likely contributed to the problem, Tatham said.
FIRST REPORT
An estimated 1,933 Dayton Power & Light customers in the northwest section of Greenville, toward Union City, are without power and the weather is likely the cause.
That’s the early assessment from Tom Tatham, spokesman for the utility.
“We have crews out there and are patrolling the entire circuit to determine the cause,” Tatham said, noting the problem most likely is snow and wind.
Customers began reporting outages at 6:46 p.m., he said.
Until crews determine exact cause of the outage, customers will be without service until further notice, Tatham said.
