Millions of people traveled for the holiday and roads are expected to be congested once again as people head back home.

News Center 7′s Kayla McDermott spoke with a father who is planning to tough the cold and drive halfway across the country to see his daughter.

Roads are expected to be the busiest until 6 p.m. Monday night.

Across the country, more than 101 million people took to the roads for Christmas last week and they are doing it again today.

Timothy Napier is driving from Michigan down to South Carolina.

He put off traveling last weekend as nearly every state was hit by a historic drop in temperatures.

“We had Snowmageddon, supposedly, Friday and Saturday and it was sub below temperatures,” Napier said.

This caused the roads to be a mess on Friday. They are better now for travelers, but not by much.

“I worry about overpasses, black ice and that but it’s been pretty good so far,” Napier said.

While Napier said his drive has been ok so far as he goes through Ohio to South Carolina, that has not been the case for everyone.

Within the week leading up to Christmas, nine people have died on Ohio roadways in the Miami Valley.

On Christmas Eve, four people were killed after a three-vehicle crash on I-75 in Shelby County.

Napier told News Center 7 how he plans to stay safe as he travels.

“Well, we have stuff in her car and just try to be a defensive driver. Watch out for others and do the best I can,” Napier said.

Today isn’t the only day roads are expected to be busy.

AAA says from Tuesday until Friday roads will be busy from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and that you will want to leave before 2 p.m. or after 8 p.m.
