‘Thank you for helping my brother;’ Family still hopeful for miracle for 4-month-old boy

COLUMBUS — A Beavercreek family said they still have hope for a holiday miracle for their 4-month-old boy who is in need of a bone marrow transplant.

News Center 7 first told the story of Noah Ansari last week, a boy diagnosed with a rare genetic disease known as Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome. The disease makes him immunodeficient and extremely prone to infections and bleeding.

Treatment for the disease requires a bone marrow transplant, but that requires people outside his family to be tested to see if they are a match to help Noah.

Since last week, 250 people signed up using a special code for Noah to be tested to see if they are a match for him. That brings the number of people signing up to get the test to 1,000, all in the name of Noah’s fight.

Its too soon to know if any of those people could be a match for Noah. However, statistically speaking, at least two of the people who have signed up for testing will be matches to someone else waiting for a bone marrow transplant.

“Noah is only 4-months-old but he’s already had a big impact on the world. He’s a special little guy,” Noah’s mother, Jessica, told News Center 7′s Gabrielle Enright.

According to BetheMatch.org, 10,000 people need a bone marrow match from outside their families.

“We’re asking them to donate a piece of themselves and for people to be so willing, is just overwhelming,” Noah’s dad Ansari said. “There’s no other words besides that. It hits your heart.”

Noah’s parents, and two siblings, are hopeful he will find his match, and are thankful to those willing to get tested.

“Thank you for helping my brother,” Noah’s sister Emily said.
