MORAINE — Surveillance video from near the Montgomery County Solid Waste District facility on Encrete Lane showed a trucking hauling refuse lose part of its load including a jawbone that was later discovered and taken to the Kettering Police Department, according to Moraine police.

Officers from Moraine and Kettering police responded to the scene around 2 p.m. Tuesday after the person who found the remains turned them into Kettering police, Sgt. Andrew Parish with Moraine Police said.

“Investigators obtained additional surveillance footage from the scale house at the solid waste facility, which led to the identification of the truck suspected of hauling the load,” Parish said.

Investigators were able to speak with the driver of the truck, who was able to lead police to a Washington Twp. home in the 1400 block of Westwicke Place.

“The resident...told detectives much of what was thrown out belonged to her deceased father, a long-time practitioner in the Dayton area,” Parish said.

Parish said the resident told the detectives she had just cleaned out the basement and attic of the home.

A family friend of the resident also told police “that a complete human skull was included in the clean-out and that it had originally belonged to the doctor in the 1980′s.”

Further examination of the jawbone is continuing at the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office and no other information has been released.

Parish said the person who found the jawbone also spotted a box and travel bag near them.

The Montgomery County Solid Waste transfer station was closed for about four hours Tuesday as a precaution, while investigators sifted through debris at the facility searching for any other potential remains, however nothing else was found, Parish said.
