UPDATE @ 12:50 p.m. (Jan. 10)
The man pulled from water at the Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve has been identified as Michael Fowler, 65, of Springfield, according to Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The incident remains under investigation.
Investigators with the Greene County Coroner's Office and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources are continuing their work to positively identify a male pulled from the Little Miami River at the Clifton Gorge State Nature Reserve.
Crews were called Tuesday afternoon after a body was found in the river.
Officials said it was too soon in the investigation to determine if the death was accidental or suspicious. The cause of death and identity of the person will be determined by the Greene County Coroner’s Office, a Miami Twp., Greene County fire official said.
Chief Altman has said it doesn't appear that the body had been in the water for a long period.
He left open the suggestion that the person could have fallen into the water while hiking.
"People like to come out here in the winter," he said. "We try to keep everybody from walking in the woods when it's icy like this."
