President Trump: ‘What ever we have to do, we’ll do’ following Dayton-area tornadoes

TROTWOOD — President Donald Trump spoke on the phone with Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Trotwood Mayor Mary McDonald and told them “what ever we have to do, we’ll do” following the tornadoes that ravaged parts of the Miami Valley.

“You’ve got a great representative in Mike (Turner) and yourself, Mayor, and everybody else,” Trump said while DeWine was touring Trotwood.  “We’ll take good care of you.”

DeWine told the president of the multiple stories he’d heard while touring Trotwood including several where families without basements hid in bathtubs.

“We talked to a lot of people, Mr. President, who did not have a basement,” DeWine said.

Trump told DeWine he didn’t think about Ohio when it came to tornadoes, but the governor told the president, “we get our share.”

McDonald said, “I think we’ve had enough,” referring to the damage left behind from Monday’s storms.
