UPDATE: All clear given after reported bomb threat shuts down New Lebanon McDonald’s

NEW LEBANON — UPDATE @ 6:30 p.m.:

A bomb-sniffing dog found no threat in the building or parking lot, police on the scene confirmed to News Center 7.

Police are working to identify the suspects who called in the threat to dispatchers.

INITIAL REPORT:

A police presence was called to a McDonald’s in New Lebanon Wednesday afternoon.

New Lebanon police and fire were called to the Mcdonald’s in the 300 block of West Main Street around 5:15 p.m., according to initial reports.

New Lebanon Police Department posted on social media that McDonald’s and the parking lot would be closed as crews conduct an investigation.

Just before 5 p.m. New Lebanon dispatchers received multiple calls making bomb threats to McDonald’s. The calls were made by at least 2 different people.

Out of precaution, officers evacuated the McDonald’s and set up a premier, according to New Lebanon Police Chief Curtis Hensley.

A bomb-sniffing dog has been requested from Dayton International Airport.

Once the building has been determined to be safe, workers will be allowed back in the building Hensley said.

At this point Hensley said he has very low confidence the threat is legitimate but will continue to investigate.
