‘Pee Wee’ Martin Jumpfest this weekend to honor late World War II veteran

XENIA — People are taking to the sky to honor a World War II Veteran this weekend.

It is the third annual Pee Wee’s jump fest.

The event is taking place at Skydive Greene County in Xenia in honor of World War II veteran Jim “Pee Wee” Martin.

He lived in Sugarcreek Township and died last September at the age of 101.

Now, people from all over the country come to Greene County to honor Pee-Wee and other veterans.

His granddaughter said Pee Wee would be happy.

“He said if you ever jump out of a plane, you will forever be part of the airborne family,” said Jodi Martin. “He said those guys will take care of you for the rest of your life and boy was he forever right.

The public is invited to Skydive Greene County in Xenia through Sunday.

People will see paratroopers and aircraft.
