Ohio Task Force 1 team will head to Kinston, N.C., for Hurricane Florence

Ohio Task Force 1 deploys to N.C.

UPDATE @ 7:25 p.m.: The 16-member Ohio Task Force 1 team deploy an urban search and rescue "package" to a location in Kinston, N.C., 594 miles south and east of Kettering via U.S. 35 East. 

The "Water Ready Package" is a 16-member team that allows urban search and rescue resources to establish or enhance urban search and rescue operations in a water environment, according to OTF1.

The WRP is capable of continuous 24-hour operations, task force official said.

The team will include a water rescue manager, two water rescue squad officers, four boat operators, five water rescue specialists, logistics and medical specialists (one each) and two support specialists. 

The team plans to leave Kettering at 8 a.m. Tuesday for the approximately 9-hour, 31-minute drive.

INITIAL REPORT

A 16-person Ohio Task Force 1 team has been mobilized and will be leaving Tuesday morning to stage in North Carolina.

Word about the deployment came just before 6:30 p.m. 

Monday evening, Hurricane Florence was about 1,200 miles west of coastal North Carolina. 

Concern is for South Carolina to Virginia.
