Oh Deere: Man arrested for OVI after crashing tractor into poles, traffic signs in Clark County

CLARK COUNTY — A man was arrested for OVI after crashing a tractor into multiple poles and traffic signs in Clark County Thursday evening.

The crash happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. on State Route 54 near the intersection of Pleasant Street in the Village of Catawba, according to a spokesperson for the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

A preliminary investigation revealed a 2013 John Deere 4730 tractor with a sprayer/applicator, driven by John T. Roberts, 54, of Mechanicsburg, was heading east on SR-54 near the intersection of Pleasant Street, hitting multiple utility poles and power lines, the spokesperson said.

The tractor turned north onto SR-54, near S. Champaign Street, where it hit a crossing sign and a stop sign.

Roberts was not injured in the crash.

Indicators of impairment were observed and Roberts was placed under arrest for OVI, according to the spokesperson.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
