UPDATE @5:18 p.m.
A 16-year-old starter on the Northwestern High school girls soccer team was flown to the hospital this afternoon following a rollover crash along Penny Pike.
Jessica Fisher, a junior on the varsity soccer team, was traveling south around 3:45 p.m. in a maroon 2004 Jeep Cherokee when she apparently lost control and over-corrected on Penny Pike south of Ballentine Pike. She went off the left side of the road and rolled several times in a soybean field, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Springfield Post.
She suffered a broken leg, but her injuries are not life-threatening, her father said. She was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital, and then was to be transferred to Dayton Children's Hospital.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, according to the highway patrol.
Fisher was on her way to the school ahead of a game at the time of the crash, her father said. The Warriors had a game scheduled for 7:15 p.m. at Wayne High School, according to the district's online athletics calendar.
