Tree, crash lead to outages for AES Ohio customers across Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY — A tree on a power line in Huber Heights and a vehicle crash in Miamisburg are blamed for outages Thursday that affected thousands of AES Ohio customers.

The power line in Huber Heights was on Chambersburg Road and crews were there this evening, removing the vegetation and re-energizing the line, AES Ohio spokeswoman Mary Ann Kabel said.

The outage from the Chambersburg Road incident, reported about 7 p.m., affected an estimated 1,363 customers east of state Route 201, according to the AES Ohio outage map.

About that same time, the online map for the utility indicated 232 outages in the area of Miamisburg north and east of Austin Landing.

That number of outages was down from the 989 reported about 12:50 p.m. in the Miamisburg area, according to the outage map.

The Miamisburg outage resulted from a car crash that damaged a transmission pole, Kabel said. AES Ohio crews have replaced the pole and are working to restore service to the remaining affected customers, she said.
