UPDATE: Miami County man dies from his injuries after 2-vehicle crash in Darke County

DARKE COUNTY — A Miami County man died from his injuries at a Dayton hospital after he was involved in a two-vehicle crash in Darke County Friday morning, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

A 92-year-old man, of Covington was the victim killed in the crash, reported at state Route 49 and Arcanum-Bears Mill Road around 10:30 a.m., deputies said in a media release Friday afternoon.

The victim was the driver of a blue Toyota car that was traveling south of Arcanum-Bears Mill Road and stopped at the intersection with state Route 49. The preliminary investigation found the victim pulled into the intersection and was hit by a black GMC pickup, driven by Ty Figel, 43, of Arcanum, deputies said. The crash caused the truck to overturn twice before coming to rest in a ditch, on its side.

The victim was flown from the scene by CareFlight medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton where he later died from his injuries, deputies said.

Figel was not injured in the crash.

Additional details about the incident were not released and remain under investigation, deputies said.
