A 45-year-old man was up in a bucket lift trimming trees when he told his coworker he thought a power line was a tension or a support line, according to a report from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
His coworker told deputies that he warned the man that it was a power line, but the man “reached out, grabbed the line and was instantly electrocuted.”
The man was reportedly stuck to the line for approximately 15 to 30 seconds.
Sheriff Jim Frye confirmed the electrocution blew the man’s right arm off above the elbow. He also had visible exit wounds from the electricity.
The man was flown to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment.
