DAYTON — A surge of people are expected to leave their homes as Memorial Day weekend quickly approaches.
With vaccinations increasing, loosened restrictions, and lower daily COVID cases, many people are heading to the airports feeling more comfortable to go places.
Although the mask order will be dropped in Ohio June 2, masks are still required on planes due to it being a federal rule.
Even though masks are required, the demand for flying is still increasing.
During this time last year about 200,000 to 300,000 passengers passed through TSA checkpoints, but this weekend Dayton hit 1.8 million air travelers.
AAA warns people to make sure they are keeping in mind health rules in different states that might be different than Ohio.
“You can have a good plan in place and planning is going to be key to make sure this goes off the way you want it to,” said Cindy Antrican with AAA.
“You waited a year to go so let’s make it great. So let’s get some good advice to find for instance I think some amusement parks still have restrictions on the number of people that can go in. It’s good to know that stuff ahead of time.”
