UPDATE: Search for evidence in criminal investigation concludes at Madison Lakes, police say

TROTWOOD — UPDATE: 3:30 p.m.

A “criminal investigation” that spanned hours concluded at Madison Lakes in Trotwood Thursday, without police locating a piece of evidence they were looking for, according to investigators.

Multiple agencies, including Trotwood detectives, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Ohio Department of Natural Resources officers were on scene of the investigation throughout the morning and afternoon.

Police Chief Erik Wilson initially told News Center 7 that crews were searching the lake for a missing person from Trotwood. Wilson later corrected himself and said it was a criminal investigation and not connected to a missing person case.

“Trotwood Police teamed up with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation Dive Team and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to search areas of Madison Lake for potential evidence in an ongoing criminal case. The search concluded with no new evidence being located,” a spokesperson for the police department said in a release.

The search ended with no new evidence being located, the spokesperson said.

A large police investigation is underway at Madison Lakes in Trotwood.

Law enforcement has been on scene of Madison Lakes on Olive Road since around 9:30 a.m., according to Montgomery County Regional dispatch.

Dispatch records indicate that there are at least two Trotwood detectives on scene of a “follow-up investigation.” Additional details were not immediately available.

News Center 7 crew reports seeing Trotwood police, ODNR officers and at least one BCI evidence truck on the scene.

A spokesperson for BCI confirmed it is assisting Trotwood police in the investigation.
