EB U.S. 35 ramp from I-75 SB reopens following Hazmat spill

DAYTON — UPDATE:

The U.S. 35 EB ramp from SB I-75 has reopened after Dayton police and firefighters blocked the ramp to investigate a potential hazmat spill.

The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. and dispatchers told News Center 7 that the ramp would be closed for an extended period of time.

Dayton police and fire crews have blocked the southbound I-75 ramp to eastbound U.S. 35 in Dayton due to an investigation involving hazmat units.

Emergency dispatch traffic indicated the ramp was going to be closed for an extended period of time.

The incident happened around 10:30 a.m., and as of 3:20 p.m., the ramp was still closed.

Police were first called to the ramp to investigate a barrel that was on the highway that was apparently leaking a substance, emergency scanner traffic indicates.

Officers then requested hazmat to the scene to investigate the substance and barrel.
