First baby of 2022 in Miami Valley born at Springfield Regional Medical Center

MIAMI VALLEY — The first baby born in the Miami Valley was delivered at Mercy Health-Springfield Regional Medical Center.

Nolan Leon Fent was born at 12 a.m. on New Year’s Day, measuring in at 7lbs, 4 oz. and 21 inches long, according to a release from the hospital.

“He wanted to be the big bang to 2022. I’m so happy my baby made it into this world. I still can’t believe I had him at 12 o’clock on the dot!” said Sarah Fent, Nolan’s mother.

Nolan’s family is from Springfield, the hospital said.

Kettering Health had Montgomery County’s first baby of 2022, who was born at 2:18 a.m.

Cameron Lee Duncan came a little early. His mom, Megan Duncan, said baby Cameron was not due until Jan. 20.

Miami Valley Hospital had its first baby of 2022 born at 2:38 a.m.

Reid Health said their first baby of 2022 was born at 7:32 p.m. on New Year’s Day.

Valerie Scalf and Zachary Bennett welcomed baby Paysleigh after about eight hours of labor.

Scalf said she did not expect to give birth went to the hospital on Saturday.

“I came in because I thought I had a UTI or something, but it was really labor. I didn’t have anything wrong,” Scalf said in a release.

Reid Health officials said Scalf contracted COVID-19 during her second trimester.

Baby Paysleigh was born 19 inches long, weighing 6 lbs, 10.3 oz.
