Firefighter graduation ceremony to be held in Dayton today

DAYTON — The Dayton Fire Department will conduct a formal graduation ceremony for 14 new firefighters later this evening, according to a news release.

The ceremony will take place at 6:00 p.m. at the Dayton Masonic Center at the 500 block of W. Riverview Avenue.

The graduating class of 2022 have completed an intense 24 week training program study that includes a comprehensive study of Dayton Fire Department policies and procedures, the release said.

It also included certification as an Emergency Medical Technician, Firefighter Level-II, and Fire Safety Inspector, as well as extensive scenario-based application of their skills.

The recruits also participated in daily physical fitness training to build their stamina and core strength, according to the release.

The new firefighters will be assigned to various fire stations around the City of Dayton to begin work on the week of September 12.
