Skeletal remains found at John Bryan State Park identified as missing Miami Twp. man

GREENE COUNTY — Skeletal remains were discovered at John Bryan State Park Saturday and investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the discovery.

The remains were those of Mark Burky, 39, of Dayton, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Burky’s cause of death has not been determined.

Burky had been reported missing out of Miami Twp. in Montgomery County since September, Miami Twp. Police said.

Investigators were called to the Greene County park around noon Saturday after a caller reported finding what they thought was a body.

Burky’s remains were discovered near the Ortin parking lot and a coroner’s office investigator was requested to the scene, an Ohio Department of Natural Resources spokesperson told News Center 7.

ODNR is investigating the incident but additional details were not released.
