Trotwood man, 40, ID’d as deceased found in pickup truck Wednesday

UPDATE @ 3:25 p.m. (July 11):

A man found dead in a pickup truck on Hagerman Drive has been identified as Brian Rue, 40, of Trotwood, according to Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

Rue’s cause of death has not been officially determined, Harshbarger said in a media release Thursday afternoon.

The incident remains under investigation by Trotwood police and additional details were not available.

We’ll continue to update this story as we learn more.

FIRST REPORT (July 10):

Determining the identity of the man found dead in a pickup truck parked in the driveway of a Trotwood home on Wednesday will be left up to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, Trotwood Police Chief Erik Wilson said.

No identification was found on the body, slumped over from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat, and residents on Hagerman Drive told police there has been no commotion in the neighborhood the past few days, the chief said.

Wilson said the Ford F 150 has been where it was found Wednesday afternoon “for a couple of days. It looks like it was driven here by the individual in the vehicle.”

Police were dispatched to the address after a call to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch from someone who reported seeing a body in a truck.

Crews responded to the home, located in the 1400 block of Hagerman Drive, and put up crime scene tape for the death investigation around 5 p.m., per initial reports.

The chief declined to speculate any more than that until the coroner’s office completes its investigation. He also re-emphasized the point that the man apparently is not connected to the homeowner or anyone in the neighborhood.

“They [He] could very well be connected to the home” on Hagerman Drive, Wilson said. “It’s just that, at this time, we can’t say for certain that he is. Anything is possible.”
