The library will be closing its doors at the 6100 block of Chambersburg Road on May 6 for the opening of its new location in Marion Plaza on Brandt Pike, library officials announced Monday.

People are encouraged to visit Dayton Metro Library locations on S. Dixie Drive, Burkhardt Avenue and Troy Street as the transition to the new facility takes place.

A Community Celebration and Grand Opening will be held June 2 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. and will begin regular operating hours on June 5, according to Dayton Metro Library.

The new building on Brandt Pike will be the second largest in the Dayton Metro Library system at 27,000 square feet.

It is estimated that it will also be an $11.8 million investment for the city of Huber Heights, as part of the redevelopment of the Marion Plaza.

This new facility is part of the Dayton Metro Library’s $187 million facilities upgrade.
