Dayton officer shot: Questions we’re working to get answers to

DAYTON — Several questions remain following the shooting of a Dayton police detective during a DEA task force search warrant Monday night.

The officer, detective Jorge Del Rio, is in critical condition and remains at Grandview Medical Center, Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl said Monday.

A news conference is expected this afternoon, however this news outlet is working to learn the answer to several questions:

  • What is this DEA task force? What are the details of the search warrant they executed Monday night?
  • Were there shots exchanged between officers and the people inside the house?
  • Who is the person facing charges for firing the shot that injured the officer?
  • What charges are the other people arrested at the house facing?
