Crews extinguish house fire in Beavercreek; Cause under investigation

BEAVERCREEK — Beavercreek Fire Crews are investigating the cause of a house fire that happened early Monday morning.

Beavercreek dispatch tells us crews responded to a reported fire on Park Overlook Drive just before 4:00 a.m.

Assistant Cheif John Mercs with Beavercreek Fire tells our crews that three occupants of the house had evacuated.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, however, Mercs tells us a lit candle may have been a factor.

There is heavy smoke damage throughout the house and fire damage is visible on the outside.

Since houses in the area are so close, fire crews say they had to contain the blaze to stop it from jumping to neighboring houses.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire and prevent it from jumping.

An ambulance was called for a firefighter who suffered a minor injury, according to our crews on scene.

Wright-Patterson Fire crews assisted Beavercreek on this call, according to Mercs.

We will update this story once we learn more.
