Coroner IDs 5-year-old killed in motorhome crash

CLARK COUNTY — A 5-year-old killed in a motorhome crash in Florida has been identified.

As News Center 7 has previously reported, on Saturday morning, a motorhome carrying 15 people from Clark County collided with an SUV on a State Route in Marion County, Florida.

The crash killed 5-year-old Christopher Tucker Sandlin, according to the Marion County Coroner’s Office.

“Once Tucker felt comfortable around you, his gentle and loving heart shined through. He had a sweet smile and a kindness that made people feel special,” Sandlin’s obituary states.

He attended Enon Preschool and Sandlin’s mother and both grandmothers work for Greenon Local Schools.

Greenon Local Schools Superintendent Darrin Knapke issued the following statement to News Center 7:

“We are deeply saddened by Christopher ‘Tucker’ Sandlin’s tragic passing. Tucker was the son of Ashley Sandlin, Greenon Elementary 5th Grade Teacher, and the grandson of both Cindy Sandlin, Greenon Local Schools Transportation Director, and Amy Brooks, Greenon High School Math Teacher.

We continue to keep Tucker’s family, friends, Enon Primary Preschool, and our Greenon community in our thoughts and prayers during this unimaginable time. To support our students during this difficult time, our Traumatic Event Crisis Intervention Plan (TECIP) team, along with our counselors, will be available to meet with any student who may need support before and after Tucker’s services.

Greenon Local Schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 so that our staff and community can show support to Tucker’s family. Additional information about Tucker’s services can be found here."

Our sister station in Orlando, WFTV, reported that a 25-year-old woman who was 35 weeks pregnant was critically injured in the crash.

She was rushed to the hospital and delivered her baby; however, the infant later died.

At least 12 other people were taken to the hospital from the crash.

Sandlin’s visitation will be held on Jan. 5 at First Christian Chruch in Springfield, services will be held the next day.
