Commercial building saved from early morning fire in neighboring structure in Dayton

DAYTON — A commercial building was saved from a fire in a neighboring structure in Dayton Sunday morning.

News Center 7 previously reported that firefighters were dispatched to the 2300 block of Germantown St around 3:31 a.m. on reports of a structure fire.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire throughout the second floor of a two story residential structure, according to Dayton Fire Department officials.

A Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Sergeant told News Center 7 that structure was believed to be abandoned.

An adjacent commercial building was saved from any fire spreading from the original structure, according to DFD officials.

No injuries were reported on scene. DFD crews were on scene for approximately three hours.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
