The employee was in their city-owned vehicle when they were the victim of an armed robbery around 8 a.m. on Tuesday. A spokesperson for Dayton Police said the employee is safe and the vehicle was found around 10:45 a.m. on Groveland Avenue.

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, Dayton Police also confirmed that the suspect in that carjacking is believed to be connected to a carjacking that happened at a Speedway on N. Dixie Drive in Harrison Township around 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

As News Center 7 previously reported, the victim in that case told deputies that they had stopped at the gas station to inflate a tire when an unknown man came up to him, pointed a handgun, and demanded his vehicle.

The suspect then reportedly ordered the victim to get into the vehicle with him. After getting into the passenger seat, the suspect drove away.

The suspect drove him to the area of N. Dixie Drive and National Road in Vandalia, where he reportedly told the victim to get out.

A short time later, the stolen vehicle was spotted in Dayton, and the suspect was taken into custody after a brief chase.

Then, on Tuesday night, investigators swarmed a home on McCleary Avenue after a car stolen from an Uber driver was found in an alley.

Cynthia Furlough described the police response as chaotic, but also told News Center 7 that she’s not shocked that a stolen car was spotted in the neighborhood.

“A lot of kids in this area, they steal cars. I’m not going to lie. They steal them and drop them off here. Some of these kids don’t even live in this neighborhood,” she said.

Around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, a 47-year-old Uber driver was robbed at gunpoint on Indian Runn Drive. One of the two suspects showed a gun while stealing the car and then abandoning it two miles away.

“A K9 that had tracked from the vehicle to a residence, and we’re still working to try and determine if the people there were involved,” Captain Brad Daughery, of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, said.

Daughery said the Uber driver was not hurt and that investigators are still searching for the two suspects.

“So hopefully we can get some DNA prints and stuff like that. It’ll help us identify the suspects,” he said.
